The Denver Broncos kept their undefeated season alive with a thrilling overtime win over the Cleveland Browns, moving to 6-0 in dramatic fashion. Sunday's win has us thinking -- what will it take for the Broncos to make and win the Super Bowl? Here's what we came up with.
1. Keep The Hits Coming
Denver's top-ranked defense came up HUGE in overtime during the team's 26-23 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, putting together a tackle for a loss and two sacks of Josh McCown to push Cleveland back and out of field goal range. In fact, the defense bailed Peyton Manning out all day, limiting the damage done by his three interceptions. Add in Aqib Talib's 2 INT return for a touchdown this year and you have a microcosm of just how fantastic the defense has been all year.
Keep this up and the Broncos will be in every and any game they play this year.
2. Peyton's Gotta Find The Mojo
Manning has thrown 10 interceptions already in 2015. He's on pace for 27 on the year which would be his worst total since his rookie year back in 1998. His completion rate is also suffering. Manning hasn't dipped below 65% in a season since 2001. He's currently sitting right around 63%. Some want to chock this up to age, but we're holding out hope that is just one of those early-season cases of the yips that can be corrected. A return to vintage Manning, or even 85% of his old self, would be enough to propel this team to the top of the NFL heap.
3. Keep Buying In
The Denver Broncos have found new wind under Gary Kubiak, soldiering through adversity and coming through in the clutch with a palpable sense of passion and pride. With the offense sputtering in both facets, there's been plenty of chances for this team to fold down the stretches of games and gift away wins. They haven't. A lot of that has to do with just how positive yet firm Kubiak has been dealing with stars, rookies and everyone in between. If the team keeps buying what he's selling, there's some ring fitting ahead.
