To say Mike Weinstein is far from being a sports fan is no understatement: He once sat next to John Fox on a flight and, even after introductions, still didn't know Fox was the Broncos' head coach.
But a timing system developed by Weinstein will play a key role in the annual NFL draft, which starts Thursday.
Weinstein is the founder of Zybek Sports, a spin-off from Westminster-base Zybek Advanced Products, which among other things creates simulated moon dust for NASA equipment testing.
The NFL has used Zybek Sports' automated sensor-based timing system for the last five years as one of several methods of measuring 40-yard-dash speeds at the annual NFL Scouting Combine for evaluating college players.
