Go ahead and check quarterback off the list.
The Broncos began working the phones early Thursday to try to trade up in the first round of the draft to get the guy they had been targeting all along.
A little before 9 p.m., they struck a deal with Seattle to move up to No. 26 and select Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch.
Lynch, a 6-foot-7, 245-pound passer with quick feet and a strong arm, will compete with veteran Mark Sanchez and second-year quarterback Trevor Siemian. The chase for Colin Kaepernick has ended, general manager John Elway said, but the team will remain open to bringing in another veteran to boost competition.
