The Indianapolis Colts took the phrase “having no offensive line” to the umpteenth degree Sunday night.
Late in the third quarter, on fourth and 3, the Colts tried for a fake punt trick play — of sorts — against the visiting Patriots. Nine of their 11 players shifted to the far right side of the field, while safety Colt Anderson lined up under center behind receiver Griff Whalen.
New England’s defense seemed confused but overloaded the line (because, you know, two guys rushing should overwhelm the single blocker).
