Linebacker Von Miller is this year’s Broncos nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, presented annually to a player for their commitment to philanthropy and community projects.
Each team nominates one player. According to the league, new this year will be all 32 players being recognized during the weekend leading up to Super Bowl 53 in Atlanta. The winner will be announced during the NFL Honors show on Saturday, Feb. 2.
The winner will have a total of $500,000 in donations made in their name – – $250,000 apiece to expand Character Playbook (the league and United Way’s digital character education program) and to the charity of his choice.
