Tight end Virgil Green was selected as the Broncos’ 2016 Walter Payton Man of the Year for his contributions in the community throughout his six years with the team.
Since the Broncos drafted him in the seventh round in 2011 (No. 204), Green has consistently contributed to the team’s Be a Champion in the Community platform, volunteered as a partner for the Power Lunch program to improve childhood literacy and has worked with the Mile High United Way. This year, he also adopted a local classroom from Denver’s Columbian Elementary, where he visits every Tuesday to read to students.
