SAN FRANCISCO — Former tight end Tony Gonzalez holds a distinction that only Peyton Manning and two others can claim: 14 career Pro Bowl selections.
On Sunday, Gonzalez, now a CBS NFL analyst, will watch Manning in what could be the quarterback’s “last rodeo,” in Super Bowl 50 against the Panthers.
Despite circumstances that few, if any, could have seen at the start of the Broncos’ season, with injuries and multiple quarterback changes, Manning, Gonzalez believes, cannot be counted out. Not at 39. Not on the biggest stage. Not against a team with arguably the league’s best player, in Cam Newton.
