In recent years the Broncos have honored a handful of their own who, on paper, weren’t even supposed to make it. They defied the odds facing them at beginning and proved enough to their coaches and teammates to be deemed Ed Block Courage Award winners, honors given to those who show “tremendous character on and off the field.”
In 2014, Chris Harris Jr., a cornerback who made the rare leap from undrafted to all-pro, was voted by his Bronco teammates as the recipient. He overcame a torn ACL earlier in the year that sidelined him for Super Bowl XLVIII.
