ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The high-character team that won 11 games by seven or fewer points last season and won Super Bowl 50 had top-end leadership with three highly respected season-long captains: Peyton Manning, DeMarcus Ware and David Bruton Jr.
Then Manning retired and Bruton signed with the Washington Redskins in free agency. So the Denver Broncos find themselves looking for the players whose jerseys will carry the "C" this time around. Ware remains but has yet to practice in training camp as he continues to deal with back troubles that kept him off the field in the offseason program.
