Sports Authority Field at Mile High will introduce 93 new walkthrough metal detectors to at the Denver Broncos' preseason home opener against San Francisco next week, according to a release.
The new metal detectors mean Sports Authority officials will no longer use pat downs and hand wands to screen fans, the release said. The change is being made at the behest of fans who wanted an improved screening process for entering the stadium. The detectors are similar to those used by TSA officials in airports, but fans will not be required to remove their shoes, belts, wallets, jewelry, watches and coins.
