Sam Jones selected by Denver Broncos in sixth round of NFL draft

The Denver Broncos used the first of their two newly acquired sixth-round NFL draft picks to take Arizona State guard Sam Jones at No. 183 overall, addressing their need at offensive line with a local product.

Jones, a ThunderRidge high school alumnus, started every game last season at left guard and possesses an athletic 6-foot-5, 305-pound frame. Jones is Denver’s fifth pick on the offensive side of the ball in this daft, joining SMU wide receiver Courtland Sutton (second round, 40th overall), Oregon running back Royce Freeman (third round, 71st overall), Penn State wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton (fourth round, 113th overall) and Wisconsin tight end Troy Fumagalli (fifth round, 156th overall).
