When: The Jets’ former starting quarterback lost his job for all of about 20 minutes before Geno Smith tore his ACL against the Ravens. Fitzpatrick returned with a vengeance, leading the Jets to three scoring drives and the victory.
What’s up: Fitzpatrick was remarkably candid after the win, telling reporters afterward that his owner and general manager stopped believing in him. Coach Todd Bowles later responded with the biting comment: “If (angry) is going to stop the turnovers, I’m more than happy to have him play (angry).”
Background: After holding out for most of the offseason because of a contract dispute, Fitzpatrick and the Jets settled on one year and $12 million.
