PALM BEACH, Fla. — NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Tuesday the Patrick D. Bowlen trustees can simultaneously achieve goals of bringing diversity to the league’s ownership ranks and commanding the highest possible price.
To wrap up the league’s first in-person Annual Meeting in three years, Goodell was asked by The Denver Post about marrying the desire for persons of color and different ethnic backgrounds with the trustees’ obligation to choose the highest bidder.
“Well, they have a fiduciary responsibility to (select the highest bidder),” Goodell said. “But I believe you can also do that in the context of diversity.
