ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Former Denver Broncos coach Red Miller died Wednesday morning. He was 89.
Miller was the first coach to lead the team to a postseason game as the Broncos also won their way to the franchise’s first Super Bowl appearance – Super Bowl XXII – to close out the 1977 season. Miller had been selected for the team’s Ring of Fame earlier this year and the ceremony will be Nov. 19.
“Our deepest sympathies go out to Red’s entire family, especially his wife, Nan,” Broncos president and CEO Joe Ellis said in a statement Wednesday.
