The play should have failed and put the Broncos in a second-and-long situation midway through the fourth quarter Sunday against Tennessee.
But running back Phillip Lindsay’s vision and second effort made something out of nothing.
It was first-and-10 from the Broncos’ 45. The timing was off immediately because left guard Dalton Risner clicked cleats with quarterback Joe Flacco, who had to lunge to give Lindsay the hand-off. Outside linebacker Reggie Gilbert beat a block attempt by tight end Jeff Heuerman and collided with Lindsay behind the line of scrimmage.
