Potential role for Broncos’ Andrew Beck: Part fullback, part tight end, all special teams

When the Broncos traded Andy Janovich to the Cleveland Browns in March, only five months after he signed a three-year contract extension, it was a non-verbal acknowledgment that new offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur’s system won’t require a full-time fullback.

That made Andrew Beck the biggest winner of Janovich’s departure because the Broncos envision him as equal parts backup tight end, situational fullback and core special teams player.

“Opportunities like this don’t present themselves all the time in the National Football League,” Beck said last week in a phone interview.
