As expected, the Eagles have signed veteran offensive guard John Moffitt to a one-year deal and released rookie free agent guard Cole Manhart.
CSNPhilly.com on Thursday confirmed a FoxSports.com report that the Eagles intended to sign the former Seahawks lineman.
Moffitt, a former third-round pick of Seattle who was previously retired and missed all of 2014, hasn’t played since being active for two games for the Broncos in 2013. He recently returned to football and last week cleared waivers, allowing the Eagles to sign him after administering a physical Monday.
Moffitt, 28, has apparently put behind him a troubled past, which included a 2011 four-game suspension by the league for violating its performance-enhancing drug policy and a 2014 arrest in March on drug possession and battery charges.
