Peyton Manning's high school coach not surprised by QB's final chapter

NEW ORLEANS -- Since he was a teenager Peyton Manning had a plan, according to his former high school coach Tony Reginelli.

So Reginelli is convinced that retiring as a Super Bowl champion is exactly how Manning had it scripted.

“Just like writing a book, he knew what the last chapter was gonna be,” Reginelli, 82, said from his home in New Orleans on Monday. “A great way to go out.”

Reginelli, who has spent more than two decades sharing stories about Manning’s exploits at Isidore Newman School, laughed at one of his earliest memories of how Peyton and his older brother, Cooper, had things planned out.
