Peyton Manning dealing with plantar fasciitis in right foot

Helen H. Richardson, The Denver Post)

Peyton Manning is dealing with plantar fasciitis in his right foot, including a slight tear of tissue, an NFL source confirmed on Monday.

Manning first began experiencing pain two weeks ago, then aggravated it on the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium. Manning, 39, first received treatment last Monday, and showed enough progress to start in Sunday's loss against the Chiefs. It never improved, leaving him compromised in the worst performance of his career.

Coach Gary Kubiak admitted he made a mistake in letting Manning play. Kubiak said Manning remains the starter, if healthy.
