The saga of Broncos right tackle Ja’Wuan James’ Achilles injury added another chapter Thursday, this time from the NFLPA.
James sustained his injury Tuesday while training in the Denver area, but not at the Broncos’ facility. It qualifies as a “non-football injury” and the Broncos have the ability, as given to them in the collective bargaining agreement, to void this year’s $10 million guaranteed salary.
On Wednesday, the league office sent a memo, provided to The Denver Post by an NFL executive, to every team saying “clubs are encouraged to remind players of the significant injury-related protection provided if they choose to work out at the club facility and the risks they undertake in choosing to train in non-NFL locations.
