MIAMI — A decade after finishing his football career at Air Force, San Francisco’s Ben Garland will play in his second Super Bowl on Sunday, starting at center against Kansas City.
Garland, who started his post-military service career with the Broncos, signed with the 49ers last March as a backup, but has started the last five games (three regular season/two playoffs) because of Weston Richburg’s knee injury.
Garland, 31, said his father and brother still live in Grand Junction and will be here for the game.
After going undrafted in 2010, Garland signed with the Broncos and was placed on the reserve-military list for two years.
