Marcus Robertson named Broncos’ DBs coach, taking over for newly promoted Joe Woods

New Broncos head coach Vance Joseph continues to fill out his staff in Denver and Tuesday made inroads toward finalizing his defense.

Marcus Robertson, formerly the defensive backs coach for the Oakland Raiders, was named to the same job in Denver, an NFL source confirmed. He takes over for Joe Woods, who was promoted to defensive coordinator in place of Wade Phillips.

“Joe Woods is ready for this opportunity,” Joseph said in a statement Tuesday, when the Broncos formally announced Woods’ promotion. “He’s been a long-time NFL assistant coach and has done great work at the secondary position.
