The Detroit Lions continued adding to their staff Monday, officially hiring Brian Callahan as the team’s quarterbacks coach to replace Jim Bob Cooter, who was promoted to offensive coordinator midway through the 2015 season.
Callahan, like Cooter before him, comes from the Denver Broncos where he was an offensive assistant working with quarterbacks including Peyton Manning. Callahan has been with the Broncos since 2010.
He is the son of former Oakland Raiders and Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach Bill Callahan.
Callahan was a walk-on quarterback at UCLA and eventually became the team’s holder.
