In their quest to win the Super Bowl, the Broncos' biggest challenge is how to treat Peyton Manning like a game manager, while making a 39-year-old quarterback still feel as if he's legendary.
So on behalf of his fading star's ego, Denver coach Gary Kubiak utters a little lie, hoping if the words are repeated often enough, he can fool everybody from Manning to New England coach Bill Belichick.
"Peyton's doing just fine," Kubiak declared again this week.
In reality, whether our standard is a Hall of Fame shoo-in or merely an average NFL quarterback, Manning has graded out as a D-plus, at best.
