John Elway is sitting and talking about kicking and screaming.
After the Indianapolis Colts eliminated the Broncos in the playoffs, Elway reshaped his team with a new coaching staff designed to create a physical identity with more accountability in big games.
Halfway through the preseason, Elway remains pleased with the change under Gary Kubiak, and he elaborated Thursday on why it was necessary during a question-and-answer session during the induction into the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame of local icon Irv Brown.
"That transition is not always easy," Elway said.
