Joe Flacco won’t play on Sunday against the Browns due to a neck injury, meaning backup Brandon Allen will start at quarterback for the Broncos at Mile High.
Coach Vic Fangio made the announcement on Monday, saying Flacco’s injury doesn’t require surgery at the moment.
“He’s got a neck or disc issue,” Fangio said. “He definitely will not play this week and we’ll evaluate after.”
Denver will decide this week on Allen’s backup against Cleveland. The team will either promote Brett Rypien from the practice squad or activate rookie Drew Lock off injured reserve. Fangio said Lock (thumb sprain) is healthy enough to play.
