Broncos president and CEO Joe Ellis said it’s his intent to sign general manager John Elway to a long-term contract.
“Oh yeah. That’s my plan,” Ellis said Monday. “That’s my plan for sure. We’ve had some early conversations dating back to October and November and December and here we are in January and we’ll continue those. I’m optimistic we’ll get something done.”
Elway joined the Broncos’ front office in 2010 as head of the team’s football operations and, in 2014, when owner Pat Bowlen stepped down because of Alzheimer’s, Elway signed a three-year extension and added general manager to his title.
