Today is “Cut Day” in the NFL, which is either exhilarating or heartbreaking.
And as the third QB on the depth chart heading into camp, Zach Wilson has known cut day could have a different meaning for him this season.
As a former second-overall pick and 31-game starter for the Jets, Wilson has found himself in an unfamiliar spot in Denver for his fourth NFL season — battling to move up from No. 3 to No. 2 on the QB depth chart if not just fight to remain on the team.
Head coach Sean Payton said Sunday that the Broncos will keep three quarterbacks, but Wilson knows enough to know that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s got a roster spot in Denver locked up until the deadline passes and he’s on the team.
