ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Chad Kelly might have entered the NFL as Mr. Irrelevant, but he is without a doubt the summer football fling for many of the Denver Broncos’ faithful as he inches his way up the depth chart.
After a strong performance in a training camp scrimmage and as one of the few bright spots in a dismal preseason opener, Broncos coach Vance Joseph formally moved Kelly into the No. 2 spot at quarterback Monday, past former first round pick Paxton Lynch as Case Keenum's backup.
