The Chargers once again were in a predicament that would confirm their resilience but also highlight the tenuous nature of their strength.
In the end, they lost 27-19 to the Denver Broncos on Sunday because they couldn’t get two more yards and their quarterback was intercepted three times and their defensive backs dropped four would-be picks.
But the underlying reality is that they entered this game against the defending Super Bowl champions with a margin of error thinner than the mile-high air in which they were playing.
