Coach Gary Kubiak remained in the hospital Monday morning after undergoing precautionary tests and the Broncos are “encouraged” by his progress.
Kubiak, 55, was taken by ambulance Sunday night following the Broncos’ 23-16 loss to the Falcons and stayed overnight for evaluation. He spoke to media after the game, but he fell ill from what the team described as “flu-like symptoms.”
It remains unclear if he will be healthy enough to coach the Broncos in San Diego on Thursday night. If he is unable to make the trip, defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, offensive coordinator Rick Dennison and wide receivers coach Eric Studesville are among the team’s options to serve in the interim.
