It’s not every day a head coaching candidate in the NFL talks openly about the process.
It’s also not every day an NFL head coaching candidate has a job on Fox.
Sean Payton, the former Saints head coach, said Sunday morning during Fox’s pregame show that he’s been in contact with Broncos brass, presumably CEO Greg Penner, after Denver got permission Saturday from New Orleans to speak with him about the vacant head coaching position here.
“Denver’s the first team (to reach out) and I was able to have a conversation with their owner and that’s kind of the protocol,” Payton said.
