Former Broncos tight end Jacob Tamme announced in a lengthy social media post Thursday that he is retiring from the NFL after nine seasons.

Tamme followed quarterback Peyton Manning from Indianapolis and signed with the Broncos as a free agent in 2012. He played three seasons in Denver, helping the Broncos shatter offensive records in 2013 and reach Super Bowl XLVIII.

During his time in Denver, Tamme had 86 receptions for 848 yards (9.9 average) and five touchdowns. In 2015, Tamme signed with Atlanta, where he played another season-and-a-half before landing on injured reserve in November 2016 with a shoulder injury.
