Days after a bicycle accident when he was hit by a car in California, former Broncos quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp died from his injuries on Thursday.
Knapp’s death was confirmed by long-time friend/former Broncos assistant coach Clancy Barone on Instagram and by Knapp’s alma mater, Sacramento State.
Knapp was 58 and in his first year as the New York Jets’ passing game specialist. He was a Broncos assistant from 2013-16, serving under coaches John Fox and Gary Kubiak.
After coaching at Sacramento State from 1986-1996, Knapp entered the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers as a quality control coach, rising to quarterbacks coach (1998-2000) and offensive coordinator (2001-03).
