After a decade in the National Football League, former Denver Broncos edge rusher Shaquil Barrett has retired.
A top-notch player at Colorado State University, the franchise had an up-close look at the former Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year during the 2014 NFL Draft process. Despite having 12 sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss, he didn’t get selected. However, that didn’t stop the Broncos from being interested as they signed him as an undrafted rookie free agent shortly after the draft.
A practice squad player for his entire rookie campaign in 2014, Barrett saw regular season action for the first time in 2015 during the Broncos’ Super Bowl 50 winning season.
