Rich Karlis — whose barefooted, overtime field goal capped off one of the Broncos' most famous games, best remembered for "The Drive" — will have his shoes on when he leads the 2016 National Western Stock Show parade down 17th Street on Thursday.
"I don't know if they will let me wear just one cowboy boot," said Karlis, a place-kicker for the Broncos, Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions between 1982 and 1990.
Karlis, the last of the NFL kickers to boot the ball barefoot full-time, is best known for kicking that game-winning field goal against Cleveland in the 1986 season's AFC championship to reach Super Bowl XXI.
