It wasn’t a new revelation or an exotic scheme the Falcons unveiled to dice and puncture the Broncos defense Sunday while handing them their first loss. Atlanta pulled off several methodical scoring drives by avoiding the Broncos all-pro cornerbacks and attacking the middle of the field.
The mixture of unique talent at the running back position and a well-executed game plan allowed the Falcons to implement a scheme the Broncos hadn’t seen since the AFC Championship Game against the Patriots.
Denver foiled Atlanta’s top offensive threat in receiver Julio Jones holding him to just two catches for 29 yards a week after he gained 300 receiving yards, but Jones wasn’t the focus of the Falcons offense Sunday.
