Denver inventor’s Cold Roller soothes injuries for NFL’s Broncos, others

For one Denver-based inventor, an idea for his first successful product didn’t start in an office or a garage, but rather on a basketball court after he suffered a minor injury on his leg.

Matt Hyder, 25, is the founder of Recoup Fitness and inventor of the company’s increasingly-popular product, the Cold Roller. Designed as a replacement for ice cups and foam rollers, the Cold Roller is a handheld, ice-cold rolling ball intended to relieve soreness and treat injuries.

“I came up with the idea after I got a stinger playing basketball,” Hyder said. “I just wanted to develop something for my own need.
