SAN FRANCISCO — Dr. George Gallegos sat on his blue mobility scooter, beer in hand, smiling from ear-to-ear as he awaited the Broncos Country rally to begin inside Super Bowl City in San Francisco. His wife of 16 years, Karen Miller, standing right behind him.
Though he doesn't always depend on the scooter to get around now, he knows he will soon need it full time. On Nov. 18, he was diagnosed with ALS. He remembers the diagnosis very clearly.
"Karen and I sat in that doctor visit together and we stared at the doctor," Gallegos recalls.
