Sunday, the Denver Broncos are finally playing for real as they host the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL regular season opener. This is a rivalry I grew up with as in my childhood and young adult years, the Seahawks (1977-2001) played in the AFC West.
Traditionally, the Seahawks have never fared well at 5,280 feet. The Broncos lead the Seahawks 34-21 all-time and are 21-5 all-time in Denver in the series.
Even in lean seasons, the Broncos have excelled in the season opener traditionally. They are tied for an NFL-best 38-19-1 (.664) in season openers all-time and have won their last six season openers, the best streak in the NFL.
