In a move that makes little to no sense at all, the Chicago Bears and former Denver Broncos head coach John Fox made the decision to let go of 2016 free agent acquisition Omar Bolden, a player who signed for basically nothing earlier this offseason.
Bolden, who was a former fifth round pick out of Arizona State by Fox and John Elway, was guaranteed just $80,000 at the time of signing, and a logjam of youngsters in the defensive backfield apparently made him expendable.
It’s not known if his release was injury related — Bolden has a long history of injuries — but if it’s not, then what gives?
