The Denver Broncos took a first-round quarterback in the second round. It was tremendous value for Drew Lock who understands he will be a backup under Joe Flacco. However, there will be a competition between Lock, Kevin Hogan, and Brett Rypien for the backup spot.
In my opinion, Hogan’s days are numbered despite bringing him back before the 2019 NFL Draft began. But I don’t think the Broncos felt Rypien would go undrafted. Therefore they pounced at the opportunity to add Rypien.
Rypien has tremendous value to where he could overtake Lock as the starter down the line or be flipped for better draft position.
