Demaryius Thomas' mother may get early prison release with new sentencing guidelines

Demaryius Thomas has waited more than 15 years to see his mother in the stands at one of his football games.

There's a chance that day might come this season.

Thomas' mother, Katina Smith, and grandmother, Minnie Pearl Thomas, have been in federal prison in Tallahassee, Fla., since February 2000 for drug trafficking. The two ran a crack cocaine operation from their home in Georgia, often pushing thousands of dollars worth of dope each week.

Minnie, 59, a three-time drug offender and the main player in manufacturing and selling the crack, was given two life sentences.
