David Bruton opens up about John Elway's regret, difficulties of missing Super Bowl

He was a key contributor to the Broncos No. 1 ranked defense, but was delegated to the sideline during the playoff stretch. Bruton broke his leg during the first quarter of the Broncos’ Dec. 20 regular season loss to Pittsburgh. He ended up finishing the game with the injury believing that it was only a bruise. He had to be carried off the field and into the locker room by two teammates.

Still, a little over a month later he felt like he was ready to play and he couldn’t.

“The day of the Super Bowl before we started pregame I went through the whole practice,” Bruton said.
