ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Daniel Hailpern, a Denver-area high school student and cancer survivor, will take the stage with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Thursday and announce the Broncos’ first-round pick in the NFL draft.
Hailpern will be in Chicago with the help of Make-a-Wish Colorado. The Broncos have the 31st pick of the opening round, which is the final selection of the draft’s first day.
Hailpern spent nine months in Children’s Hospital Colorado in 2014 as he battled leukemia and underwent a bone marrow transplant. During his recovery he was one of the hosts of a football show that was broadcast into all patient rooms at the hospital.
