During his first two years as the Broncos’ coach, Vic Fangio had captains on a game-by-game basis.
But in another change entering this season, in addition to changing the players’ off day from Monday to Tuesday, Fangio said six year-long captains have been elected.
In a vote by their teammates last week, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, receiver Courtland Sutton, outside linebacker Von Miller, kicker Brandon McManus and safeties Justin Simmons and Kareem Jackson were chosen.
The importance of wearing the “C” on their jerseys was evident after Monday’s practice to Simmons and Sutton.
“You would like to receive that honor from your peers,” Simmons said.
