Day 6 of Broncos camp featured a sluggish practice after a day off. NFL reporter Cameron Wolfe offers 10 takeaways from Wednesday’s session.
1. With the Broncos’ projected starting guards Ty Sambrailo (hyperextended elbow) and Max Garcia (rolled ankle) missing practice with injuries, it was rookie Connor McGovern and swing tackle Michael Schofield who took the majority of the first-team guard repetitions.
Schofield’s presence is particularly surprising and gives a hint at the Broncos’ offensive-line depth chart. With Sam Brenner out with injuries, it appears Schofield and McGovern are the Broncos’ top two reserve offensive linemen and would be first choices at guard or tackle if an injury sidelined a starter.
