Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has informed owner Jim Irsay he is retiring from the NFL, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Luck has spent the preseason sidelined with a mysterious leg injury, and his participation in Week 1 had been in doubt. He missed all of 2017 with a torn labrum before coming back to throw for 4,593 yards and 39 touchdowns as part of a 10-6 season in 2018 that included a trip to the postseason and Wild Card playoff win over Houston.
The No. 1 overall draft pick out of Stanford has passed for 23,671 yards, 171 touchdowns and 83 interceptions over an eight-year NFL career, including the 2017 season he missed entirely.
