ATLANTA — The Broncos have a defensive player headed to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Finally.
In his first year of eligibility, cornerback Champ Bailey — who played the final 10 seasons of his 15-year career with the Broncos — was elected by the 48-person selection committee here Saturday.
Bailey and the rest of the Class of 2019 will be officially unveiled tonight during the NFL Honors event Saturday night.
Bailey, 40, was able to celebrate in his home state. He grew up in Folkston (about 275 miles southeast of Atlanta) and played collegiately at Georgia (in Athens, about 80 miles east of Atlanta).
