ATLANTA — Champ Bailey wants to join former teammates Darrell Green and Deion Sanders as first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerbacks.
“It would mean a lot,” Bailey said Friday. “It’s a must that I follow in their footsteps.”
Bailey played with Green and Sanders with the Washington Redskins. He was traded to the Broncos (with a second-round pick) in March 2004 for running back Clinton Portis.
The Class of 2019 will be selected Saturday. Bailey and former Broncos safeties Steve Atwater and John Lynch are among the 15 modern-era finalists.
Bailey played the final decade of a 15-year career with the Broncos and intercepted 34 passes in 135 games.
